Ballet Preljocaj returns to Sadler’s Wells for the first time in seven years, having last graced their stage with their production of Snow White. After Snow White, the contemporary choreographer Angelin Preljocaj continues in his exploration of fairy tales, this time with one of traditional Chinese origin. The story follows a traveller who finds himself enchanted with a woman portrayed in a painting on the wall of a temple in which he seeks shelter from the rain.
La Fresque, French for “The painting on the wall”, features costumes designed by the late Azzedine Alaia, with a haunting set by Constance Guisset (a regular collaborator with Preljocaj) and music from co-founder of the group Air, Nicolas Godin.
